was established in 1994 and encompasses the communities of Mudgegonga and Rosewhite, and includes the Barwidgee and Happy Valley Creeks, as well as their tributaries. The area covered by the landcare group is located about midway between Myrtleford and Yackandandah. It’s historically a farming community with a mix of cattle and sheep, but now includes a number of lifestyle properties.
The group was very active with bush fire recovery programs following the 2009 bush fires and has undertaken a mix of erosion-control, native re-vegetation, dung beetle introduction and agricultural outreach programs over the years. It is currently managing a large federal government grant under the Healthy Rivers Program in the Murray-Darling Basin that incorporates projects across the mid-Ovens River region.
We meet the first Thursday of every month at the Mudgegonga Hall on the Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road and all members or newcomers to the district are welcome to attend.

was formed in 1988 from an existing Farm Trees Group. The group covers the areas around Springhurst, Eldorado and Carraragarmungee, comprising fertile riverine plains, undulating hills and rocky granite outcrops. We are largely concerned with addressing the land degradation problems of erosion, loss of vegetation, dryland salinity, acidity, poor water quality and rabbit, fox and weed infestation. Throughout the year we host numerous workshops, field days and community events in our local area.
