In 2013, seven Landcare groups from North-East Victoria, with shared farming interests, came together to form the Mid Ovens Landcare Consortium (MOLC) in order to secure funding for a facilitator role. These groups have a long-standing history in Landcare, with visible improvements made across the landscape. The groups involved are:
● Burgoigee Creek Landcare Group
● Hodgson and Horseshoe Creeks Landcare Group
● Indigo Creek Landcare Group
● Mudgegonga & District Landcare Group Inc.
● Springhurst and Byawatha Hills Landcare Group
● Stanley Landcare Group
● Wooragee Landcare Group
MOLC operates as a volunteer-driven consortium and is an incorporated entity governed by the Model Rules for incorporated organisations. Representatives from each of the seven member groups meet regularly to manage and guide the Consortium’s activities.
MOLC functions as a separate organisational and legal entity, maintaining close collaboration with the Ovens Landcare Network and other community groups.
A key focus for MOLC is the employment of a part-time facilitator, who plays a vital role in supporting our member groups. This includes assisting with fundraising, supporting project development, providing key information, and facilitating partnerships with government and community organizations to drive successful environmental initiatives. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable and healthy environment in our region.
