Mudgegonga & District Landcare Group has been part of the district since 1994, bringing farmers and lifestyle residents together to care for the land and strengthen sustainable agriculture. Our members have a long history of soil conservation, habitat restoration and practical projects that improve the health and resilience of our local environment. Over the years, the group has provided leadership during major recovery efforts, including fire recovery projects following the 2009 fires, and has supported neighbouring areas through initiatives such as the community blackberry program involving more than 180 landholders. We continue to deliver biodiversity improvement works including nest box building and placement, soil stabilisation and landscape‑wide restoration.

Our focus is on practical action, shared learning and community connection. As a group, we work to improve the environment, establish shared land management standards, recognise member achievements, and promote viability and efficiency across farming landscapes. Members collaborate to share knowledge, gather information and brainstorm solutions, and we advocate for coordinated pest animal and weed control where private and government land managers work together. Mudgegonga Landcare also provides a united voice when engaging with government agencies, offering a clear point of contact that individual landholders often cannot access on their own.

Membership offers a range of benefits designed to support landholders and encourage participation. Members have access to group equipment hire including a post driver, trench digger, post hole digger, ripper, spray unit, wood splitter, tip trailer and tree planters. Participation in group activities is covered by Public Liability insurance, and members can access funded programs such as erosion control works along with regular newsletters and updates. After twelve months of continuous membership, members become eligible for major funded programs including erosion control, land protection and revegetation, as well as potential rebates on chemicals for priority weed control.
